Leilithar offers to help get Brock back to life, but she will have to disappear for a time. She gives the party 3 potions of cure moderate & the wand of Spectral Hand. Takes out a horn & blows on it. A glow starts and grows brighter and brighter until it is hard to see. There appears to be a tear in the world to Elysium (forest with elven people, beautiful). See a tall elven woman (violet eyes), holding a staff (Queen of the elves).
Brock returned to life (Aasimar). Where the tear was, a small pebble shaped item lies.
Corpses of women: women didnt die quickly, feelings of despair and hopelessness. Numbers about current population in the chamber.
Pit: woman in a pit, rocking a corpse of a baby back and forth. Woman has gone mad from grief.
Purple glow tunnel (Left passage): Sense of eerie creepiness. Strange visions. (Rhada believed she was with mother and mother was angry with her). Several corpses on the floor (including skum). A Color out of Space attacks us (Immaterial Ooze). Destroyed the device, but that freed the Color Out of Space. Brock killed it.
Discuss what to do about the Shantak. Searched around the central chamber to see if we could find something out.
Central chamber: Circle of stones are magical, very powerful. 1 stone in particular. There is a cord to pull which rings a bell and causes the circle to activate.
Gathar rings the bell. loud ‘bong’ heard, strange roaring sound coming from outside.
Brock walked up to stone and touched it. He disappeared, proving that the stone was a portal. Others join him momentarily. Dark room, but stairway going down. Crude stairway going down (likely a natural fault going down converted into stairway). Leads to a chamber (down maybe 20 yards).
Chamber: Damp walls, worked natural stones. Not stalagmites. Sees a tall glass tank with a man inside in North. A large dis-coloured bronze bell nearby (Alarm spell on the bell). Rotting cabbage smell to the north west, leading to a tunnel. South has noises. Sharkskin book present.
Tank & bell: notice a golden medallion hanging from the bell, identical to that worn by the Vizir. Original Casius Undiomede preserved within tank. Took a moment to read from the book and discover history of the town.
Midden Chamber: human remains thrown away inside. Gathar walked into the midden, but was too sickened before long. returned with leg, but too decomposed. As tried to leave, Gathar grappled by mutant Shambling mound. Brock killed by the monster. Killed the monster. Searched monster body. Fled from the chamber after hearing sound of webbed feet. Rested the night out and when returned, only could find a finger of Brock (his holy symbol is missing).
Gathar heard something above, which prompted Danica to send her Eidolon to investigate. It was bisected, causing others to decide to rest. Problems with the baby (No milk for her).
Following morning: Leilithar created food for the baby. Then carefully entered house.
Bedroom: ‘The pact ends here father’ carved into the headboard of the bed (in old style Taldoran). Maybe 50-200 or so years ago.
Attic: Looked around and attacked by Hound of Tindalos. Killed Hounds & healed up slightly (Leilithar used unseen servant to take care of baby). Found item in attic (The Book of Abstruse Geometries, spellbook).
Stairs outside to the roof. Mangled Priest of Daegon’s remains (related to the High Visir). Fell from somewhere above, leaving a crater. Summoning runes in the floor of the roof. As Rada is entertaining the baby (since Leilithar was investigating the body), noticed something in the sky. Warned others & ran back into the building. Shantak flies out of the sky.
2nd floor: shutters down with a cozy sitting room. A painting of a stormy sea. Has a number of comfy chairs. Room has been searched recently, but tidily (someone used one of the chairs for a while).
Hallway: 3 doors leading off it (east, south & west). Portraits on walls, none of the individuals look nice. Most recent: shows a bitter looking man in a wheelchair. Younger looking man (looks nice) behind him
East Room: library. Attacked by spectres, Rada wounded badly, but undead defeated. Walls damaged.
Southern Room: Nursery. Baby mobile (made of Rare Sea shells). Very creepy paintings and images on walls.
Southwest room: Lovely view from open window. Old wooden desk with Yellow Mould spores inside.
Western room: Master bedroom. 4 poster bed, no covers. Figure reclining on the bed, wearing priestly robes, ill. Demands who we are. After talking, her head explodes & Spawning Canker attacks. Killed Brock. Gathar managed to destroy the body and avoid being infected by the slug spawn. Remaining slug spawn are killed.
Decided to head to see House Undiomede as likely a meeting between agents of the whispering way and the Daegon Cult.
Brock: Has a moment where he realizes that couple talked to in the church may have been infected by the Slug spawn.
As riding, realize that under attack by Slugspawn. Brock went down due to attempting surgery to remove a slug attached to him, others managed to deal with slugs (Gathar hunted down one which escaped). Brock badly hurt, but continue.
Reached the House, but decided to rest before entering properly. Hid inside the Mansion Shed.
Fog appears during the night, very thick. Fog gets even thicker.
Following morning: Entered into mansion, saw something large and humanoid.
Gathar in Annis Hag form attacks rest of cultists. Brock charged into opened chamber, monster present, a Chuul. Gathar killed all the remaining cultists, whilst the others deal with Priest (dead) & Chuul. went through Priest & collected items.
Searched rest of Temple. Found large seachest in room. A man lying on bed (looking unwell), number of broken glass bottles nearby (formally of Cure Light Wounds).
Secret Door: leads into secret chamber. Also to a smaller room with a pool in it and 7 corpses of locals with no heads (several bodies withered and shrunken. Something burst out of the body from the head). 1 of corpses: merchants cloths. Ceramic egg (unholy symbol of whispering way). Paper also.
Slug-spawn: children of an elder creature, make an infected creature suspect-able to infester before killing them after 3-7 days. Mature creatures escape, but leave spawn to look for more hosts.
Paper: Rider on way with effigy, meet at old house outside town for exchange.
Go to Temple. Looked inside, but left after making social fopar (didnt take shoes off inner chamber). As Others looked around talking, Gathar walked outside and looked in through windows. Hear sound of angry cry from within, then see an angry cleric
Visier appears, Angry, with 4 priests. all attack us. killed 4 of the 5 priests, then the Visier ran off, yelled for reinforcements and opened the rear of the temple. Gathar Transformed into what appears to be an Annis Hag (huge…scary…)
Robes: wearing strange green robes (creepy, strange images on it, tentacled, Daegon robes).
Went to Inn & enjoy a fish stew meal. Afterwards, headed to Town Hall to meet Mayor. Told by guards to maybe see the Sheriff (Guards are a little slow, possibly). Chatted with Sheriff about situation, told to go see the Mayor (Unsettled by knowledge of Whispering Way & their actions).
Met with Mayor Greedle, Info gained: data on the Neighbors; confirmation that there has been hard times with fishing (Vizier calming people down); mentioned the Sea side Effigy. Over a dozen people have been disappearing without a trace. No traces, but people arent panicking yet, but believe it is the bad luck. 1 Black rider rode through to Indiomede House. Help Greedle find out what the priests are hiding. Offers 4000gp to investigate the cult.
Travelled to Thrushmoor. Passed through Carrion Hill (city). Spent night in ‘Tangled Worm’ Inn.
Hired a guide to take us through swamps to get to Thrushmoor. Takes 1 week to get through.
Lantern Lake: pass by as funeral is in progress. Move past and ride on boat to arrive in Thrushmoor.
Found Inn, got table & pints. Got rooms (attack for ladies, room below for men) & search for informaton.
Went to livery, ambushed by assassin who disabled Leilithar and ran off after we defeated 2. Found 2 sinister pale horses (pale, figure 8 symbols on bridles). Found ledger, page torn from it. Convince locals of assassin. Learnt that riders followed went to Ill Marsh.
Journey to [Illmarsh]: follow road to the town, but as nears town, road condition gets worse as does the weather. A stone key with a lake, but no obvious settlement. Notice a ship (Isinglass) about to crash into the stone Key. Prevented crash with use of summoned Merrow. Spoke with man & retreated into a summoned hut to avoid storm. Confirmed that strangers arrived in village a couple of days ago.
Following day: use ship to get to village. Left ship in docks and invited straight into Croon. Warned that locals dont trust strangers. Go to Inn, took 2 rooms.
Go checking out town, town hall has a guard who isnt very friendly. As arrive at temple, see 2 people. At first hostile, but tried talking politely (Bad fish the other day, not seen The Neighbors since) Folks even seen the Watcher in the Bay. ‘That Lucas Fella. The newest’.
The Local Store: Has a number of items (Wand of Flame Arrow, Wand of Enthrall, Bag of hold). While chatting with Tam, he was about to touch his holy symbol often, but then stopped (as if not adequate or fake).
